Building Notice

When you want to place a garden shed or garage, you will need the permission of the Local Authority. You have to comply with the rules that guarantee the safety of neighbours. The extension also needs to fit in with the surrounding buildings and your neighbours should not have trouble with it. If you meet with these conditions than you can start building. Painting advice

In many cases a log-cabin or garden shed is made of impregnated timber, deal. If not, you give new pine-wood a preventive Delta coating. The affective substance of this product offers an optimum of protection against dry rot and mould. Delta coating is an approved water-based life extending product. Its long-lasting protection does not have an adverse affect on paint.
To get the best result you have to apply the coating both to the in- and outside, preferably before assembling. When the coating is dry, it is repaintable.

Covering or transparent?

With Delta or CWS coatings, you choose a transparent finish. You will be able to see the grain of the timber through the coating. In this way the natural character of the timber is given justice. There are different shades of coating you can choose from. Beware: never choose a colourless product for the outside! The colour is necessary for a strong protection against UV radiation. With the brand Lucite you achieve a good quality finish with a covering porous layer. With rugged timber, however,  the relief remains visible.
Covering paints have a thicker layer, give a longer protection and therefore asks for less maintenance.

Give the end grains and the timber on ground level a few extra coatings. They easily take up moisture. Under the influence of sun and wind the moisture finds its way out, the layer of paint is pushed aside and will start to blister. Using Lucite coating you reduce this risk to a minimum. To be sure moisture will have no influence on the timber, it is wise to paint both in- and outside of your garden house or garage. Our paints are suitable for both ends.
